Don't lift the lockdown in north Wales!

Covid-19 has still to reach its peak in north Wales, and the region is now recording more new cases than anywhere else in Wales.

The Welsh Government should keep the lockdown in place until the reproductive rate of the virus (the 'R' figure) is significantly and consistently lower than 1, and both the infection and death rates show a continued fall for several weeks in every region of Wales.

The elderly and those with vulnerable health, in particular, need to be protected. And there should be far more public health protection for them EVERY winter. They are made vulnerable and many are lost to viruses and pneumonia every winter, you just don’t hear enough about it. Let’s continue the spirit of protecting them now and into the future. Don’t lift the restrictions till we are well past the peak – we are at least 6 weeks behind England in the progress of this pandemic, let’s not lift the restrictions sooner in the process than they did, or we’ll finish up the worst-hit country in the world!!
