No to 1680 houses off Cefn Rd/Holt Rd

The Welsh Labour Government have insisted on excessive levels of housing development in Wrecsam. Despite local Councillors twice voting against these plans, developers took the council to court and Councillors were threatend with jail if they failed to adopt the plan. The plan, known as the LDP,  was subequently adopted in December 2023. Councillors have launched a legal challenge which is due to be heard in the coming months.

This plan includes a super estate of 1680 houses in total off the Cefn Rd/Holt Rd. An application for 600 houses has already been submitted by Barratt and Bloor homes, with the Harworth group beginning consultation on plans for an additional 900 houses. Additional applications may also be submitted.

We the undersigned do not support plans for a super estate of 1680 houses off Cefn rd/Holt rd. We object for the following reasons:

  • Loss of Green fields
  • Lack of affordability
  • No local need as population is static/slightly declining
  • Pressure on local GP's
  • Pressure on the Maelor hospital
  • Lack of local Dentists
  • Local highway at capacity already
  • Pressure on local schools
  • General pressure on stretched local infrastrucure such as water, sewage etc
  • Flood risk

A further strain on services that are already shocking

All the reasons listed above are genuine and valid concerns. Loss of green spaces has such a negative impact and services/infrastructure are already too stretched in Wrexham.

Sort out the NHS first before you go destroying yet more green space that residents enjoy

Not wanted – not needed. Someone, somewhere, stands to make a few bob. What are they offering as sweeteners? Half a dozen affordable houses & a couple of mini roundabouts. Or what about another Aldi? Certainly not a new hospital, health centre or school complete with fully trained personnel.

Please! No more houses! There’s a 2 day wait in a&e! People are dying because of all this increase in the population of Wrexham.

Every reason listed above so valid. Don’t let us lose any more open land – also the issue of biodiversity.

This is wanton destruction of our countryside environment and (from what I can see on the map, the Erlas Victorian Garden – a wonderful charity helping less able people.

Objection on the build of ANY houses in our area. We do not have the amenities for more people, the roads are already traffic jammed up, major loss of agricultural land.

Any intended housing development should be built on brown site land not greenbelt.

There is no infrastructure to accommodate, the services that the people on this enormous estate will need. No sewage, school, doctors, roads that can accommodate all the cars from the estate. Not to mention the pollution unless all these people are going to be given electric cars!

Electric cars that are not fit for purpose. Also, what jobs are they going to do? I’m really worried about the decimation of greenbelt land.

Build on Brown belt not Green. Building this amount of homes is totally outrageous and disgusting and should be opposed at all cost.

Wales is going to be a car park soon, that’s how congested and polluted will be with all these new homes.
