Give vulnerable access to supermarkets

Coronavirus: 'Large spike in demand' for toilet paper over COVID ...

More than 85,000 people in Wales are classified as 'extremely vulnerable' due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We call on the Welsh Government to make immediate arrangements to ensure these most vulnerable people are given priority access to supermarket deliveries, which many are finding impossible to get. Those most at risk and the supermarkets themselves have supported such a move.

We also call on the Welsh and UK Governments to improve communication so that people understand that announcements made in England are not necessarily going to be implemented in Wales. There has been unnecessary confusion caused by officials and politicians failing to explain themselves properly.

Mae mwy na 85,000 o bobl yng Nghymru yn cael eu ystyried yn 'hynod fregus' oherwydd pandemig Covid-19.

Rydym yn galw ar Lywodraeth Cymru i wneud trefniadau ar unwaith i sicrhau bod y bobl fwyaf bregus hyn yn cael mynediad â blaenoriaeth i ddosbarthu gan archfarchnadoedd. Mae llawer yn ei chael yn amhosibl eu cael ar y funud. Mae'r rhai sydd fwyaf mewn perygl, a'r archfarchnadoedd eu hunain, wedi cefnogi symudiad o'r fath.

Rydym hefyd yn galw ar Lywodraethau Cymru a'r DU i wella cyfathrebu fel bod pobl yn deall nad yw cyhoeddiadau a wneir yn Lloegr o reidrwydd yn mynd i gael eu gweithredu yng Nghymru. Bu dryswch di-angen oherwydd bod swyddogion a gwleidyddion wedi methu ag egluro eu hunain yn iawn.

Some supermarkets have special times for vulnerable but at ridiculous early times when many could not be up and out for those times.

    They need help

Cytuno. Mae’r ddau bwynt yn bwysig.

I agree. Both points are important.

Really concerning how extremely vulnerable people are left. My neighbour is a complete recluse, has been for the 25 years I’ve lived here. No family and won’t even open the door to me. I leave her a meal each evening by the door. I haven’t seen anyone else visit to check in her

My wife and I are 72 years old with me on disability with added health issues. We have not received any help from anyone to date and although we have food, we constantly keep trying to find our next delivery. My eldest daughter has two young daughters and we worry about her trying to help us, 21/2 hour’s queuing for our medication was a worry when mixing with others.

I assumed having an auto-immune disease I would be classed as ‘vulnerable’ but clearly not. Nor is my 73 year old Mum who lost my Dad 3 weeks ago. My husband is having to help do her shopping and he has bad asthma. If people are entitled then they need to know.
