Gresford, Gwersyllt, Stansty, Plas Coch, Holt Rd, Llay, Rhosnesni, Rossett, Ruabon, Ruthin Road and New Broughton - across Wrexham borough there are plans for thousands of new executive homes on greenfield sites surrounding the town. They are the latest example of growing urban sprawl in Wrexham borough.
We now know that Wrexham's population is static and predicted to fall slightly over the coming decade. So why are developers, planning officials and this Welsh Government still ploughing on with a Local Development Plan (LDP) to allocate land for 7,700 new homes - many on good farmland?
How will already congested roads cope with hundreds of extra cars at peak times? What about health services, schools and other essential services?
We need to build for community need not developers' greed. Now is the time for us to make a stand and demand the LDP is paused and we stop this madness.
Please sign this petition to the Welsh Government saying enough is enough. Let's build the houses we need - starter homes for our youngsters, for young families and retirement dwellings for the elderly:
We, the undersigned, call on the Welsh Government to halt the current Wrexham Local Development Plan. New information about the planned reduction in the borough's population means that we do not need many of these 7,700 new houses that the plan will allow.
Many communities will be affected if this LDP isn't stopped now.
