Save Wrexham's fire engine

North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority is proposing to cut one of Wrexham's two whole-time fire engines with the loss of 24 firefighters. Wrexham is the largest conurbation in the North, it has a huge industrial estate and the second largest prison in Europe along with a high number of vulnerable people and deprived communities.

These additional pressures will lead to a lack of cover for area, potentially endangering life and putting property at risk. We support enhanced cover for other parts of north Wales but not at the expense of halving the numbers of firefighters available in Wrexham.

We, the undersigned, call on the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority not to cut the Wrexham fire appliance and 24 firefighters' jobs.

How can a CITY not have a proper Fire Brigade Station. A city with one of the largest industrial estates in the country.

Losing this local service will definitely put lives and homes at serious risk especially in light of current global warming issues/wild fires are only likely to increase

As a recently retired firefighter of 30 + years I can state without doubt that any proposed reduction in fire cover of this kind is not only unacceptable but also risking the lives of the general public.

This fire review was conducted to improve the fire cover across North Wales. However, it’s now become a cost saving review rather than to improve cover.

Removal of the 2nd Wholetime appliance will have disastrous consequences on Wrexham city of which is continuing to grow. This will only leave 1 full time appliance covering Wrexham county and relying on the 3rd(current retained) which is rarely available.
