Protect Summerhill's Green Spaces

PLANNING APPLICATION FOR 31 HOUSES ON BOTTOM ROAD, SUMMERHILL

A formal application for outline planning permission has now been submitted to Wrexham Council, which you can view here by searching with the Case Number P/2020/0151 :

www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/planning_portal/plan_policy/haveyoursay.htm

In 2016, an application for 59 houses on this site and adjoining fields was refused by Wrexham Council, and then again on appeal to the Planning Inspectorate (Case Number P/2016/0738). Factors such as traffic and flooding/drainage were considered, but it was refused mainly because it extended the village boundary into green barrier. It was described by the Inspector as “an illogical addition to the development of Summerhill” which would be “materially detrimental to the landscape and townscape character” of the area.

Nothing has changed!

Re-submitting the application bit by bit still breaches the village boundary and is still illogical.

If you agree, please sign our open letter to Wrexham Council and the developers :

We, the undersigned, are opposed to further development in Summerhill and the extension of the village into valuable green space. It will increase traffic congestion, and put additional pressure on our schools, health services and other infrastructure.

Rydym ni, yr isod, yn gwrthwynebu datblygiad pellach yn Summerhill ac ymestyn y pentref i dir glas gwerthfawr. Bydd yn cynyddu problemau traffig, a chynnyddu pwysau ar ein ysgolion, gwasanaethau iechyd ac isadeiladedd.

This would be materially detrimental to the landscape and character of Summerhill for all the reasons it was refused in previous application 2016. It will increase traffic dramatically on what is affectivly a country lane. We already find it difficult to get out of our drive some days now due to the amount of traffic and people are constantly parked on the pavement outside our home sine the houses on Summerhill park were erected and this is dangerous, More houses will increase pressure on schools and facilities in area which is already under stress. It will take away the last bit of green space in an area which 15 yrs ago was all green space.

I am extremely concerned about this development. The roads are already over subscribed along this area and having recently had a head on car crash on the adjacent single track road, further houses puts additional pressure on these roads and increases the danger. This area is also on the boarder of the town going into green space. Further loss of green space is unnecessary when wrexham has many other brown field sites that could be used for new housing. The area has ancient hedgerows that are vital for wildlife and this development will stretch the town boundary at the cost of wildlife and reduction of green fields that are key to the well being of local people too.
